Enda Clake's Reflections in Glass

"This is a body of work created over the last six months, utilising the propeties of lead and glass to represent scenes of nature. Observations of our surroundings and the beauty of County Sligo is apparent in the work and is where much of the inspiration was derived, water being a recurring theme.
After choosing the subject matter, the attempt to then incorporate colour observed in nature in the piece was a fundamental part of the process. By manipulating the material and the appropriate use of colour each piece is sympathetic to the material allowing the characteristics of the glass to be appreciated as the light passes through it.

The multitude of colour and textured glass lends itself brilliantly to the creation of the work and often determined the outcome of each piece.
The malleable nature of the lead means it is a perfect companion for the glass and through the use of line is able to provide the glass with defined form and structure both physically and aesthetically.

The craft of stained glass is one which should continue to enrich our lives and remain a potent medium in craft genre."
